The Löve wiki is good. People also recommend the PIL for learning Lua (Lua is not an acronym. It's a word, meaning "moon" in Portuguese.)

Dragging a folder onto an excecutable sounds wierd. Really? Actually T-Bone It's what I do when coding LOVE in OSX. It's the fastest way for me to execute it ;) That sounds horrible. If you don't already have them, get GTA IV and Knights of the Old Republic. Both great games!

KotOR is a bit buggy on Windows 7, though, so beware.

On the subject of open source. Just because you make the source available to study, that doesn't mean the game itself is open source. You could print it out and give away copies in the street, and it'd still be closed source unless you explicitly gave it an open source license.

New set of games available now. The only ones that really stand out to me are VVVVVV and Monkey Island. L.A. Noire is also a good game, but I'm not sure if it's long enough to warrant the $25.

If you haven't played Mass Effect 1 & 2 yet, get them now! They're some of my favorite games ever.
