The steps are roughly as follows:
1. Create a Steam account
2. Pay the Steam Direct fee, see the page for that here
3. After you have access to Steamworks, set up an application
4. Follow the uploading to Steam instructions to setup your application depot, launch options, etc
5. Upload your game via Steampipe (see link in step 4), or if your game is small enough, as a .zip (that contains your finished game and files needed for distribution). Note that in my experience macOS builds break if you try this .zip upload approach (digital signature breaks, if your application is notarized), so use Steampipe if you're planning on supporting macOS.
6. Somewhere along the line, set up the Steam store page
7. Ask Valve to review your application and store page. Better to do this well ahead of release, particularly if you're planning marketing that specifies a release date
8. If they approve, publish the game
Steamworks documentation more or less covers everything you need to know, and if in doubt, you can submit a support ticket to Valve (they usually take couple to few days to respond). But, because Steam Direct requires information only you can obtain (banking and tax details, etc), this is not something we can help with.

Do it on the step 3: you have more time to make the game and to collect the wish lists.MrFariator wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 3:09 pm
