Menu Controls In A Multiplayer Game?

Hi,

This is not a question about programming, but rather, design.
I'm making a 2-4 player deathmatch type of thing, where each player controls their own character either by their keyboard controls or a controller. Now I've come to a small design problem: how should the menus be operated? Should I make the menus controlled by mouse for simplicity? Or should every control method have their own "cursor" to choose options with? Perhaps only one player controls the main screen, and other players "join" the match in the match screen? In that case, who controls the main screen? What do you think would feel like the most natural way of doing things?

If I get the menus done, I'll be releasing a demo version here before the end of this year. :3
