Hey! I found this game on Vapor and got hooked up for a few hours. At first I thought it was hard (good hard, not too hard), but eventually I found out that I could just stay in a safe corner shooting, and jump'n'dash or use the bomb when in danger, got pretty easy. Still, I went all the way to get all items :megagrin:

The Binding of Crate Box - now on 0.9.2!

Hi everyone! I really, really, really liked this game back when adnzzzzZ made it, and after almost two years I still do. So I ported it to 0.9.2, added a setting, improved controller support (anything that SDL2 recognizes as gamepad, plus some more bindings found online and the ability to add your own bindings) and now you've got to hold down a down key to buy an item (but you can't just press down while you're on it. Sorry.). Then (and only then) I asked adnzzzzZ if he was ok with this. Turns out he is!

AdnzzzzZ agrees with this and told me I could do whatever I wish with this, so I guess maybe I'll study the code more (there are some parts I don't understand yet, and at least a line needs polishing) and I probably will accept pull requests of people that want to fix bugs or add stuff!

I think I'm going to create some pixel art for this because there are to many different styles of art in the game (looks like the graphics are downloaded from an game resources page or somthing like that).

if they are going to be good I'd love to see them in your branch :)

You'll surely do! AdnzzzzZ had plans to have proper, unified graphics for this game and I'll fulfill his wish! ^^
By the way I'm still ironing out bugs caused by my new features, so it'll crash if you change the particles settings (it's kinda useless as of now, I should have tested it more thoroughly). The attached version, which I can't update because of connection issues, has bugs in the shop so you can't hover items without holding down down, or it crashes. The github version has that bug solved, but not yet the particle one.
EDIT: Now the particle one should be solved as well! I'll try to add a .love in my previous post.
EDIT2: Added it there and here as well!

oh hi adnzzzzZ. really cool game.

crate box is one of my favorites. I pushed it to the point of making up my own game modes, like pacifism mode.


There doesn't seem to be any kind of score though when you die?
Like how many rooms you got though, or money collected, or whatever. I'm not sure how to brag about how well I did without some kind of score ;)

Does it show your time at the end? Like a speedrun? (I wouldn't know)
