How best to try out Passion?

Post by bradford »

Hi, guys.

What's the best way to try out Passion? It won't work with LOVE 5.0, and it isn't obvious from the web page how best to get the current 6.0 build.

I found a reference to your subversion repository by searching forum messages. Is it a good idea to check out and build the latest version of the trunk, or is there a branch I should look at instead? Is there a 6.0 alpha download somewhere?

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10, not Windows, so I should be able to build easily from the source, right?

Thanks,

Bradford

http://love2d.org/builds has the latest packaged source, as well as builds for various OSes, including Ubuntu. (Also coffee.) It's not, however, always up-to-date - only as recent as when the build script was last run, which is 4 days ago as of this post. If you want to check out the source and build the absolute bleeding-edge yourself, you can clone the Mercurial repository at http://love.hg.sourceforge.net:8000/hgroot/love/love and go from there.

Good luck!

Hi bradford,

If you meant PÄSSION, it has now been working for some time with the 0.6 builds - Anything from the builds page should make it run for you.

Just take note that I haven't tested it on linux yet.. and I'm making changes!

The object-oriented part, MiddleClass, is far more stable (if it had a number, it would be 0.8-ish) so if you just want object-orientation, you might as well use just that.

Also, I'm preparing a little surprise on MiddleClass and Passion.
When I write def I mean function.
