This is only tangentially related to the topic, but you should almost always install your software from the repos, unless you know of a PPA that you trust and that is more up-to-date.

I said that I won't use USC anymore, non that I won't use Ubuntu Repository anymore
The USC broke my apps database 2 times, and it took 4 days each time to repair it (by formatting). Now I only use apt-get.
