Very nice. I got 400 points before crashing. :P

As for the backgrounds, I would avoid ones with overly dark parts, as that obscures the grid.

obscuring the grid might not really be a bad thing xD

Dull but sincere filler.

Yeah, if you do this search you'll notice that lots of these games don't even have a grid drawn behind. Makes little difference to the gameplay really.
Do you recognise when the world won't stop for you? Or when the days don't care what you've got to do? When the weight's too tough to lift up, what do you? Don't let them choose for you, that's on you.

The edge of my monitor looks similar to the black pixels on the edge of my monitor, so those backgrounds are not the best for me. The look that results from the background becoming the same color as the grid is pretty cool though.

Yeah, but I find it a bit annoying you can see the grid in one place, but not in another.

Helpful suggestion: get a better title <_<

Also, what about dynamically changing the background by columns. Could eat up some frame rate, well, it will eat up some frame rate, well, all of the frame rate.

Were you not IRC when it was conceived? It has a bit of history to it :P A very small amount, mind. Leave the name be :D

Between Portal 2, school and Easter I didn't manage to get a lot done last week, but now I have a new version!

Changes in version 1.1

• slow, medium and fast speeds available (z/x/c keys respectively) - I still need to make the medium/slow speeds look smoother, though
• controls are now displayed in the pause and game over menus
• different backgrounds! no more black areas
• each background will change slightly every 50 score (some are more subtle than others).

Feedback on the new backgrounds is appreciated.

Minor revision: once a background reaches the maximum number of changes it can go through, it will now switch to a different background instead of looping back and doing the changes over again.
