Post effects? Shaders?

Post by BlackBulletIV »

Is there any way to use post effects (or post processing, shaders, whatever) with Love? I know Love uses OpenGL, and I know OpenGL has post effects using it's shader language GLSL (I have basically no experience with OpenGL or GLSL, but I do know they exist). The only experience I've had GLSL is a look this tutorial of using post effects with SFML. Post effects look really cool, so I was wondering if there was a way to use them in Love?

Nope, not in the officially supported LOVE at least. There have been many talks and propositions for how to go about exposing the OpenGL shader though. I believe the current method on the table is precompiled shaders.

Ah ok. So I'm guessing precompiled shaders are prewritten shaders? Or do shaders go through a compilation process?

There is a feature request at https://bitbucket.org/rude/love/issue/99/glsl-shaders and a (a little outdated) fork: https://bitbucket.org/vrld/love-glsl. This topic is also relevant to your interests: http://love2d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1616.
