Crappy games

Post by BrotSagtMist »

One thing i miss here is a place to dump all these ideas and creations that are too bad to be shown in any thread of their own.
Ideas that should not exist because they dont make fun to play.
Code that haunts you in your nightmares.
Graphics that my 1 year old could do better.
With sounds that make you worry a cat was tortured.

So lets post our worst. For fun and entertainment.

Ill go first:
This is cargps, a top down car racing game classic GTA style. But youre not driving the car.
You play as the navigation system. You type the instructions. Deal with it.

Can anyone even make it to the end without going insane? Its pure frustration.

hah, I kinda like that one. I didn't play through the whole thing (I'm not that crazy), but it was still a silly 5min :awesome:

I guess I should continue the chain... most of my crappy games aren't love-ly, but I did recreate an old game jam entry in LÖVE recently. The downloads and embed are up over here: https://www.huguesross.net/code/diamond-rush

I'm planning to improve it, but in its current state it might fit the theme...?

Oh boy yea that looks absolutely beautiful and the gameplay is just pure agony, i wanna punch someone in the face now.
I even finished that just to see how much pain it inflicts.

I must say, non direct controllable stuff is really annoying.

If you google csscgc, you'll find a similar idea for a different system.

In fact I once tried to write an Advanced Lawnmowner Simulator for Löve as a joke, but found it surprisingly difficult to determine whether you had won the game using the rules that I had decided and had to put the project aside.

Why doesn't the car go straight? It always angles a bit. Otherwise it's fun to play for very short while. Shortcuts would help, e.g. pressing L would give LEFT instruction etc.

This was supposed to be unbearable bad, i made something wrong here.
Shortcuts would help, e.g. pressing L would give LEFT instruction etc.
This already is the case.

Titles can't be copyrighted, anyway. Trademarked, yes, but not copyrighted

Last year I tried what I could throw together in just 2 days. Not 2 consecutive days but 2 random days over the course of a week or so. So this game took me only 2 days to complete, and I originally decided not to post it. It's a finished game, but not a good one. There are enemies randomly flying from left to right and from right to left, you can shoot them, and they fire back. Your goal is to play for high score. And basically that's it. Difficulty increases slightly every few seconds. Since there are no proper limits to the difficulty, the game gets very unfair after a while of playing.

The controls are as following:

Keyboard: "z" or "y" to fire, directional buttons to move, "p" to pause
the game

Mouse: left mousebutton down to fire, right mousebutton down to make
your tank follow the mousepointer horizontally - it's best
to keep the right mousebutton pressed, so you can drag your
tank around

Gamepad: "a","b","x" or "y" to fire, Dpad to move your tank,
"start" to pause the game

This feels like a legitimate Atari 2600 game; almost like a cross between Combat (visually) and Missile Command (conceptually). You really nailed the retro vibe on this one, and I've yet to see a bad game in this thread!
