Eon

Post by Kyle »

BIG NEWS GUYS!
Eon is now out publicly! Register on the site and download the updater from the Play page and you'll be able to play on the most recent version any time! If you have a previous install, please uninstall it before installing the updater.

Eon is a new MMO in active, very public development. It's a 2D space shooter all about exploring our 1.85 million stars and all of their planets. Every system is unique and offers its own set of resources. You can customize your ship, build space stations, collect resources and profit, or even battle to the death. Pirate trade convoys or make money as a hired gun to protect those convoys. The economy is fully player driven!

I'm sure that you're wondering how you can get into the game by now, if you've read this far. That's simple, just go to the website, register an account, then go to the Play page and download the updater. Now you can play any time - if you're on Windows, just click the "Play as (your username)" button.

How you generate a universe? This is a custom math function?

I actually just generated a few million random positions and then checked them all against the color of a density map and killed them if there wasn't enough "density" there.

Sorry, I was screwing around. :P I just reduced the number of queries on the forums pages dramatically, though...

If the planets are randomly generated, I'd love to read an article about it. Maybe a blog post on the love blog? :)
