Very Sociopathic Aang's Adventure Time

Post by adnzzzzZ »

Hi. I just finished this game for a jam in school (5 days jam) and I thought I'd share it at its current state. Game has no sound and some optimization problems, but other than that works fine.

Enjoy!

There's this set: http://oryxdesignlab.com/sprites/lofi-f ... sprite-set. The only problem is that it has no animations at all, so I had to add them. But since they're really simple sprites and the animations only have two frames it isn't that difficult.

Yea, I have a lot of unoptimized stuff that I should take care of now that I have extra time. No time to do that while the jam was going, though.

I am addicted to this game! xD
It's funny and not too hard or too easy! Can I ask how you did the random spawning of enemies? and how did you get the camera to shake when you shoot?

I wrote a post about camera shaking here. The random enemy spawning is not entirely random. The map is divided in a 4x4 grid of 20x20 pieces. Each piece is predefined/designed with a bunch of objects (including enemies) in certain locations. Here's what one piece looks like (you can open all the .tmx files in the resources folder using Tiled):

Then the map is made by choosing 16 of those pieces randomly. I didn't have much time to make that many of them, so there are about 18 now, but since the maps are generally really open it feels kinda random.

Very nice game, especially if you did it in only 5 days. Congratulations.
When I write def I mean function.

Thanks, kikito.

I added a boss and fixed a few performance issues... The game is a bit more challenging now I think. The updated version is on the first post!
