Re: Death Kart!

Yes, if you looked in the fsm folder at intro.lua (which is the finite state that starts the game), you would see that vsync is turned off, since it doesn't work quite right on all monitors (like my mac, for example, the refresh rate is way higher than 60fps, and causes input lag and all sorts of no...

Re: Death Kart!

Yeah man, your example doesn't work on my mac. it just cuts out all input and doesn't do anything. And when I have it out output FPS, it says it's 565 frames per second. So, no input, frame rate through the roof....

Re: Death Kart!

(and yes, you need to hold down the "gas" so to speak...pretty much like Mario Kart, etc to speed up and go more than one or two pixel per frame) I'll look into using scancodes rather than key constants, but really, it works best with a gamepad...even the menu input quirks are gone with th...

Re: Death Kart!

I use a timer with the menu's- I just have to tweak how it works. I have a way of fixing it- the code I used in another game works fine, this one was something I was throwing together super quick for the game jam, so I do know how to fix that. As for the sleep timer thing- I'm not sure how else to c...

Re: Death Kart!

Oh, excellent! Thanks for helping me track this down. We plan on doing a full version of the game later, with a better solo mode, and improved SNES style graphics, more levels, items, etc. I think I'm going to have tor rewrite the input code and some other issues that keep cropping up before we get ...

Re: Death Kart!

I used both the executable and the .love file. The executable at least ran better (32-bit Windows 7). Ah, suckage. Sadly, since I use OSX for my development and stuff, I didn't get a lot of time to test it on Windows, and the only Windows I tested it on was Windows 10. I wonder if it's an FPS issue...

Re: Death Kart!

My kids are both teenagers, and they came up with all of that. All I said was "hey let's do a game jam"... then my son said "Let's do a cart racer! but only in battle mode!" And my daughter said, "Yeah!" And then my son said, "And they fight with shopping carts! Ca...

Re: Death Kart!

(I ask because I know there was something like that on my son's windows machine running the 32bit version, but the 64bit version seemed to work fine?)

Re: Death Kart!

What's the system that you're using? Are you using the .love file, the app, or the windows executable?

Re: Death Kart!

And what someone said above- did you press Z to push the cart? If you don't do that, you barely move. Z is basically like hitting gas in Mario Kart, that sort of thing. Let me know if that's the case, or if we need to dig in deeper...
