Just a quick suggestion:
Keep a table of which areas are under fog and which are not. Use that table to determine which areas to draw. Only update this table when the player moves. That way you don't have to continually calculate which areas are under fog, etc.

Re: Super Ultra Mega Fantastic Sprite Editor
I like how pretty the gui is and I feel like I do need this tool -- making animated sprites in GIMP is rather tedious. I found some things that made this tool pretty unusable for me though: No tooltips. There are some buttons that I can't tell what they do. When I press play, only the first frame is...

As others have mentioned, whatever CPU cycles you save will be offset by time spent developing your work-around, trouble-shooting and de-bugging it. Read up on the dangers of premature optimization!Grubby wrote:This kinda seems like a waste of cpu cycles...

Looks pretty cool. I love the use of textures for the different surfaces and the high contrast between background and foreground.

Re: Drazzard - A Dungeon Survival Game!
Yeah this has the potential to be something very cool. I love the style and feel already. Suggestions: bg music (even if it's just a simple loop) footstep sounds In-game instructions. I know it might seem like they're unnecessary but it'll help push your players further into the game instead of havi...

Kudos on such a gem of a party game! I'll have to pull this one out next time my friends are bored with Smash.

Re: Game done in 9 days: Disposable
Well done! To be done in 9 days with a game that's this complete and fun is impressive. What initially drew me in was the interesting art and the logo of the game. I recorded my playthrough as well. I was able to complete it in about 12 minutes: https://youtu.be/laKNHNs-Kuo It was fun to discover th...

Yeah, check out middleclass, 30log, or any of the other oop libraries floating around. Or if you want to make one yourself, check out the PiL:
