Re: Thread restart
I don't mind derailing since I get the answer I was hoping not to get but was thinking as only fair solution. Yes I know that it does saves memory, a lot of it. I didn't exactly knew it was anywhat faster than plain bitmap data, but by "small if any" performance boost I mean that slightly ...

Because it saves memory, and AAA games just always need more memory, it's never enough. If you will to spare image quality over textures volume then using it is fine, provided it naturally harder to spot such defects on rapidly moving and constantly transforming surfaces as model polygons. Even if t...

Re: Moduleless API
And it takes at least a second to launch a window. That is, it takes a second between white window pops up and game is starting to render stuff (an empty game with most stuff disabled that is). Can the window be hidden until game can actually render to it?

Re: Thread restart
And they look like crap. It's absolutely forbidden to use them with either gradient-smooth or vector-sharp textures, because it will put noticeable distortion, and people will notice. Look what it does to textures. And that's DXT5, gives best possible picture. http://developer.download.nvidia.com/wh...

Re: FSN unix 3D file system in love
Modern graphics hardware computes inverse square root faster than this "fast" inverse square root does. But older hardware actually benefits from using it.
