Re: Gnop! - MiniLD58

Another suggestion- I would suggest using love.mouse.setRelativeMode . I found it sort of annoying that the mouse would leave the window and cause me to lose. Thanks davisdude, I agree with all of your points. I will try to fix them all, after the jam ends. Unfortunately I entered the game in the j...

Gnop! - MiniLD58

This is my entry for MiniLD58 game jam themed "Pong". Gnop! is basically Pong with a little twist. Instead of two paddles controlling one ball, there's one paddle controlling two balls. The balls are gaining speed every ten seconds, so you're trying to survive as long as possible. Use your...

Day 2

Day 2: 03/21/2015 Alright, I lost the original Day 2 post during some cut-and-paste operation. :) Here's more or less the same thing. I have an idea for a story. At first I wasn't very sure if this idea would make a good game, but after giving it some thought, I realized that it can be a good game....

Re: So, I really like love and game development, but...

Hey, it's okay. I'm pretty experienced with programming now. I actually started with Java. I am currently trying to create an algorithm for roguelike-style dungeon generation in Love2D, and it's going okay. One of things that's currently bugging me is the lack of a continue statement in lua, though...

Re: So, I really like love and game development, but...

I'd suggest learning a bit of programming basics before jumping into game development. Although, making games is a legitimate way to learn better programming, it's not suited for an absolute beginner. Learn a little Java first. Make some text based games or programs for example. Only then look into ...

Day 1

Day 1: 03/20/2015 I'm struggling with ideas. I have some visual ideas, some of them are interesting, but I don't have a story idea yet. I want something simple, something that feels like a short story. To make the engine simpler, I have to sacrifice some gameplay elements. For example, I may forgo ...

AdventureJam Journal

03/20/2015 (GMT +02:00) Hello, 15 days later, adventurejam starts. It's a game jam where you try to develop an adventure game in 14 days. You're allowed to write the story, make some concept art and sketch some music, but all the development should be in the jam period. Participants are allowed to ...
