Re: Share a Shader!

Raytracing useful for 2D games? Don't get ahead of yourself mate. Raytracing is hella pricey. There are people here crying they can't support OpenGL 2.1 and yet here we are debating on the usefulness of raytracing in 2D games. Very often the effect doesn't surpass a similar one that comes at a lowe...

Re: Library like LÖVE for iOS & OSX?

I know UDK is way more expensive than Unity, and I said it's not about the money. It's about the way they sell it. Not sure why you would prefer the inefficient mess that is Java and its painfully slow VM though, except for its portability. What are you talking about, they're both inefficient mess ...

Re: Share a Shader!

The yellow ball has reflections inside out, but other than that it's an "okay". I don't honestly understand why lövers are so obsessed with 3d and particularry with raytracing. I don't quite understand why you are so obsessed with people experimenting with 3D with LOVE. I mean, even if yo...

Re: Library like LÖVE for iOS & OSX?

Well, you should really mind C#, it's awful. That's what I can tell you all right from my own experience. Better off with Java, provided C# is a (lousy) copycat of it. I mean they both have big time problems, but C# has many more. That's another reason for me to avoid Unity: it would only offer you...

Re: Library like LÖVE for iOS & OSX?

Not sure about Unity's users philosophy, but it's designers intent is pretty clear: to get most money out of you. Full Unity pack is something about $1500, and biggest half is for pretty much generic and commonly FREE stuff like shader support. I'd called this price "OK" if they were sell...

Err, not really. Sure, it has some things in common, but the weight, workflow, style, and general philosophy are way different.

Re: Library like LÖVE for iOS & OSX?

You know what? You actually helped me! :D I Glad I could help :) As far as I'm aware, Corona isn't a programming library and is a 'maker'. I haven't checked out others but I've just seen Polycode by googling and haven't thought to look into it. Corona is billed as a "development platform."...

Re: Share a Shader!

Hi, I've written a little raytracer from scratch. It's not perfect and has some bugs like the shadow projection on the mirrored material, but I'm pretty happy with the result ;). Controls: W = Forward S = Backward A = Left Side D = Right Side B = Down N = Up Escape = exit the program And for those ...

Re: Library like LÖVE for iOS & OSX?

The title might be kind of vague, but I'll explain! I own a Mac, so I can develop iOS apps. Though I like LÖVE's extreme simplicity! Is there a library like LÖVE for iOS? I am aware of Cocos2d, but is it as good as LÖVE? I know Cocos2d-x has a Lua version, but I think it's buggy and unfinished and ...

And they look like crap. It's absolutely forbidden to use them with either gradient-smooth or vector-sharp textures, because it will put noticeable distortion, and people will notice. Look what it does to textures. And that's DXT5. http://developer.download.nvidia.com/whitepapers/2008/normalmapdxt_...
