I wrote something very similar, once. In my humble opinion, you should give your image font an appropriate alpha layer (ie., alpha -> from brightness), fill the image with white (unless you want outlines or something), and use normal alpha blending mode. Using modulate blend mode just to get rid of a black background is not how to do it...

Are you sure about that, Xgoff? I use #table all the time, and have never had any behavior like that. I thought that ipairs always behaved exactly the same as #table in regards to sequential numeric indices and nils.
