Re: Grumpy NES emulator

I've found a copy of The Legend of Owlia here, together with many other homebrew games for several platforms (including the other ones I tested with Grumpy NES): https://github.com/FunKey-Project/FunKey-OS/raw/7a15dcc3ef1253af3f852ba0390b88c8fa251c5d/FunKey/board/funkey/rootfs-overlay/usr/local/shar...

Re: key or mouse input with hold

Yeah, basically start a timer on key press and check it on key release. Another World used this technique for the three different functions of the pistol: shooting, building a barrier, or power shooting.

Re: removing images

But trying to use nil instead of a released object may also cause you to crash, so in that sense it makes no difference. The Lua-side object not getting garbage collected is true unless the variable is local. Yes, but a released object evaluates to true, while nil evaluates to false, so if you're c...

Re: removing images

Yeah, thanks milon.

Can someone explain me why?
Because the object is no longer usable, and trying to use it may crash your program; it also prevents the Lua-side object from being released.

Re: 2D puzzle "Tangled Stones"

The idea is interesting, certainly. It somewhat reminds me of a casual puzzle game called Buttons and Scissors . However, using Box2D for the implementation brings in some problems. Box2D rope joints are actually springs, meaning you can actually stretch them, against the design goal. Also, some box...

Re: Grumpy NES emulator

I've had trouble too. Blockage works great, but it's kind of repetitive and not very demanding. Cowlitz Gamers 1st Adventure works, but it slows down at times; I guess that's expectable. The 2nd adventure doesn't work at all. The Legends of Owlia crashes upon entering the game, if not earlier, and o...

Re: STI & physics - body & shape offset

I've now downloaded your .love file and checked. This, and your other thread, is something you should probably ask the creators of STI, here: https://love2d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=76983 because it seems to be related to using STI itself. For example, I replaced your STI version with the ...

Re: Lead Haul - Old-school space pirate FPS

I guess it's this commit? https://github.com/groverburger/g3d/commit/4a2d7072b673a46136454ac37f81ca13d7526477 Yeah, that changes the models, but it makes a lot of sense to use z for up, for a number of reasons. First, the previous coordinate system was left-handed. This means that angles grow clockw...

Re: removing images

This is an old thread (2014). Things have changed since; now there is image:release() that you can use to free an image.

Re: Offline Documentation

He revived a 10 year old thread just to give a wrong version of what was already said here: https://love2d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=222923#p222923 I hope no one tries what he said, it would be a waste of bandwidth to download everything under love2d.org including all threads and attachments in the...
