bitser is a serialization library for LuaJIT. It's very fast, produces tiny output and safely handles untrusted input.

bitser.register('someResource', someResource)
bitser.registerClass(SomeClass)

serializedString = bitser.dumps(someValue)
someValue = bitser.loads(serializedString)
