What are good places for a platformer environment?

Post by MaxGamz »

I was toying around with making a 2d game that takes place in a randomly generated cave, however I felt like it was too constricting for a platformer. While I was able to get the random generation working the terrain was still not ideal for platformer navigation in my opinion. I might still also consider a Minecraft inspired overworld but I feel like it would widen the scope of my game and I would like something more in line with the middle.

Why not just *traditional* platformer then, if you not yet experienced?
Something 2 side-scrolling, like maybe sonic or mario?
