This build documentation
https://bitbucket.org/rude/megasource says:
... or you can of course open the solution file in Visual Studio and build from there instead of invoking cmake --build.
But I can't find "the solution file" anywhere
I guess I'll just try to use cmake. But, am I blind? Or is there actually no .sln file?

I believe it is after you create the solution file with cmake.
$ cmake -G "Visual Studio 12" -H. -Bbuild

Of course trying to build throws errors though. I'm not sure if I've ever successfully built someone else's code

I don't think love has been building at all on windows for some people. It's a recent issue and iirc it's the same one others had.

If you're using a version of visual studio later than the one specified in the megasource page then things will break.
