All right. I've made some improvements for this (for example: listed games can give a URL to plain-text information about the game).

I also have three issues:
First, the name "Löve me" should be something better, but I'm not good with names, and earlier suggestions by others didn't quite fit as well. A minor issue, I know, but still...

Second, I have not enough games listed. I want to have a wide range of games before I put the list online. If you have a game that you want people to download, please contact me!

Third, the directory structure:
Currently, it's like this:

Code: Select all

loveme/
loveme.py -- eligible for name change
settings -- just to locate LÖVE
data.csv -- this will be online later
    games/
        jump.love
        -- etc.
But I was thinking it might be simpler and more logical to do it like this:

Code: Select all

love/
love -- and the other love files
loveme.py -- still eligible for name change
data.csv -- this will be online later

~/
    lovegames/
        jump.love
        -- etc.
No need for for the settings file: the app just has to run "./love". What do you think?

It might not be a bad idea to install it next to LÖVE (so I'd say 3 = good)

I guess you mean you're NOT good at names?
Anyway, me neither, let's ask rude that, he's good at names.
2 -> If I'd have any popular games... (I do give you permission to add Netris), I guess you should check topics in Projects & Demos for popular threads and see if it has a high download count, include those games (with permission of the creator). A game I propose is called.. ehm.. k..something: k3

Oops. Fix'd. I guess that was a Freudian slip. ;)

Awesome! You have a .love of it on the 'net? Unfortunately, I can't just download tarballs in <unnamed project>, at least: love can't run 'em.

Now why didn't I think of that?

Good suggestion... but didn't they split up? :P (also: the author seems to have disappeared)

@bartbes: is the latest version of Netris 0.01? If not, were can I find a more recent .love? If there is no recent .love, I'll just make one from a GitHub tarball.

No, the latest stable is 0.9, yet the latest unstable still calls itself 0.01... I will fix that, promote it to stable and send you a .love.

New version!

Improvements:
  • Allows searching
  • Games can supply information about themselves
  • List sorting
  • Downloads online game list, but prefers local file
  • Progression bar for long downloads
  • No more settings file
  • New directory structure: place the .py in the same directory as love(.exe if you're on windows). All game files and data.csv are placed in ~/lovegames/
Problems:
  • Only 3 games on the list!
  • Still no good name. (love-get? AFKALM?)
Edit: stupid error fixed: http://github.com/lovegames.csv --> http://gvx.github.com/lovegames.csv. Sorry about that.

A new version... hopefully with a bit less stupid mistakes. With (hurray) shebang.
