Interesting game, it has a very Micro Machines vibe to it. One thing that is weird is that it seems like it's quicker to slow down by letting go of accelerate than by pressing the brakes. That may not be true but it feels that way to me at least, maybe add a drift mechanic to really blast round corners. I like the zoom effect as you speed up/slow down though, that feels very fluid. All in all I had fun playing it, I think it would be awesome with local/network multiplayer and controller support. Me and my friends could get very competitive with a game like this.
Good job so far man. :)

Code: Select all

if not wearTheseGlasses() then
  chewing_on_trashcan = true
end

Funny game, but needs drifting (hint – every racing game needs more drifting). Also, you may disable turning the car in place, it seems weird as it is now. I like what is going on with the camera. And, by the way, I encountered some graphical artifacts on Big Cap (image attached).

I'm trying to tone down the friction of the car so it doesn't go from 60 to 0 in 2 seconds, but so far i'm having trouble with it :crazy:

In regard of the drifting mechanic i'll try my best to implement it though i don't know how yet...
As a first step towards it, now when you accelerate and brake the car gets a bit more steering so it's a bit more easy to get some corners faster!(almost did sub 31'' with the interceptor on fonso ring).

And the multiplayer gets added on the list of things to do!

Thanks a lot for playing it!! :D

Ooops can't believed i missed the artifacts on Big Cap! :S
Following your suggestion turning the car in place is now disabled. I agree strongly with the drifting part, i'll do my best to implement it!
Thanks a ton for playing it !! :D

I really really like this!!!
Easy to play but tricky to master. Drifting would be cool too!
Maybe some sort of in-game map editor? Would love to make some less windy maps, maybe one that's just a circle.

Keep it up!

Thanks a lot for giving it a try!!

Drifting is done, at least for now!
The in-game map editor i don't know if i want to do it since all the maps are done in Tiled, but i'll give it a try ! ^^ (one of the lazy things i could do is make a template map on a custom folder, and make the game load custom maps exported with Tiled from there)

Thanks a ton really!!

it has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much acceleration for such tight turns and the steering feels unnatural
i think it needs a much more realistic physics model
edit: and maybe better tracks
